What we do...

Impact Initiatives is focused on human transformation through partnering with Christian and secular organizations, both public and private, who are engaged in expanding the Kingdom of God through:

  • evangelism
  • disciple making
  • education
  • humanitarian relief
  • microfinance, leadership development
  • restorative justice

We seek to incorporate all of these elements to establish healthy, prosperous, and self-sustainable communities of faith in Jesus Christ.

We are Christians motivated by our love for Jesus. We channel the love God has for us towards others in order to fulfill "The Great Commission" of Jesus Christ and to fulfill the second great commandment of "loving others as ourselves".  While we are very intentionally focused on the spiritual aspects of our activities, we know that "an empty stomach does not have ears". That is to say that unless we first address a person's unmet material and physical needs, they cannot appreciate the incredibly good news of Jesus we have to share with them. And we believe that Jesus desires for a person to be healed in every aspect of their being. The Apostle James sums this up well when he said:

"What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, 'Go in peace, be warmed and filled,' without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead." - James‬ ‭2‬:‭14‬-‭17‬ ‭ESV

Meeting these material needs may be different depending on the culture, circumstances, and specific area of lack. In South Asia, we have been drilling fresh water wells so that communities can avoid water born diseases and be free of the drudgery of carrying water (primarily a chore of women and girls). In Colombia, it may be providing shelter and food for refugees coming across the border of Venezuela. We do these and more.

We also seek to provide long term solutions to the problems of poverty. Education is an important component in helping individuals and communities to rise out of the cycle of poverty by getting better jobs. Impact Initiatives owns and subsidizes a school serving some of the most needy children in Bogotá, Colombia. Each child is loved and cherished. Caring staff provide an excellent K-11 education at an affordable cost to their families. The education and character development provided helps them to be prepared for greater opportunities and a better future.

Microfinance and entrepreneurial training are important tools we provide to help individuals utilize their God given talents to earn a living and to employ others. Impact Initiatives is providing low interest loans for micro-enterprises.

Impact Initiatives has also built and supported church buildings in South Asia and Colombia. These structures are important safe, neutral locations for believers to meet and to freely worship Jesus. Since we most often work with impoverished and vulnerable communities, the cost of building a church is beyond the means of a tithing congregation. Impact Initiatives raises funds and other assistance from believers around the church to help with these construction projects.

Many believers in Jesus Christ know intellectually and emotionally that they should do "good works", but they often don't know how to get connected to such projects. Impact Initiatives seeks to stir up this desire to help people with the very people and projects that can impact their lives! Would you consider joining us in our work? Make an IMPACT with us!
